Sea Lion Cruise description:
Our 45 minute Sea Lion Cruise departs every odd hour. We leave the Fun Zone docks on the odd hour to visit the Sea Lions that live on the Newport Harbor Jetty and on and around the bait barge. Our Sea Lion Cruise has been a favorite of young and old since 1948.
Tour number one may leave the confines of
Newport
Harbor
for a short trip out to the Bell Buoy for a visit to the Sea Lion colony that likes to spend their time on the navigational aid.
On our cruise we will also visit the beautiful homes and yachts of
Newport
Harbor
while we cruise along the
Newport
Harbor

Note: Tour One leaves the jetty for about 5 minutes, unless its lumpy or foggy out, for a view of the coastline and visit to the Newport Harbor entrance.
Tour #2 Newport Bay Celebrity Homes and Yachts

45 minute tour: Celebrity Homes and Yachts. Pulling away from the dock, The Captain begins with a introduction, welcome and the safety announcement. A requirement, for every vessel and every voyage. Even though we are a ten foot tall boat in eight foot of water once we get to Lido and for most of the tour. With three toots of the horn - "I am backing up" in boat speak. We start to slip away from the dock. The "Showboat" while crossing the ferry lanes, glides right up to Tour 2's and the harbors 5 knot speed limit. As we head for Nics recently listed home, the narration begins. "It is a fun fact to know, many of the homes you will see are investments. Some show pieces rarely lived in other than vacation visits. We love Mr Cages' shades and colorful big birds. We try to be very cool in turn, letting him buy his breakfast at the secret local coffee place in peace. Another one of our of favorites Mr. Terrible, wait 'till you see the boat, John the "Duke" Wayne slept here, the new owner made a few changes, leaving a memorial gazebo. We liked it better when The Duke would wave at the "Belle" from his dock. Waynes' "Sands of Iwo Jima" beach assault was filmed across the way from the movie actors no longer existent house. It's rumored Cagney won the island and beach in a poker game, I like to imagine the game took place on the "Norwester". Newports wealthiest bachelor on the left. Now passing the home made famous by Columbo- my favorite tv episode filmed in this home. Roy Rogers up on the left. The folks who built the first motor homes, local Balboa angels, have a house on the channel up ahead. Down the way and round the bend, a bowling alley in the basement used mostly by the housekeeper, we hear, the lights on late at night is all we can verify. Lido will always be associated with Joey Bishop, his pals "The Rat Pack" Joe "E." Brown Bogart and Bacall , Bergen Edgar and Candice. Coming up on the right, The Balboa Bay Club where Nixon stayed while searching for property in San Clemente. Up ahead, the backdrop for our favorite Balboa themed T.V. series "The Baileys of Balboa" with Stering Holloway, later to become the vioce of that honey loving Pooh Bear, based on a 1965 "fictional" Balboa Harbor Tour Company. More celebrities and details on the tour, this being the side of the harbor where clever boat names and stories abound. 12M, 2PM, winter hours 4 & 6 PM added summers. Tour #4 Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade and Ring of Lights Tour
The 5:25 PM departure: We cruise out to the start of the Harbor Parade, the boats usually organized in a line by 6. Along the way we point out some of our favorites as we negotiate all the decorated boats to show you the themed homes of the upper bay, the Ring of Lights portion of our tour. Our boat will also mill about with the contestants as the parade forms, taking the opportunity to seek out and display our favorites. After 61 Newport Harbor Boat Parades we do know where the viewing is and where the highly decorated and themed homes and boats are to be found. We can also offer a knowledgeable narration. Once the Parade forms we will ride along with it for while, on the way back to our docks, ensuring our guests a viewing of the entire Newport Boat Parade and many decorated homes. 7:00 PM sharp return.
The 7:25 Departure - The Late show, a quick turn around and a deep breath, this years Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade of Lights having gone by our docks, to the end off their loop, and headed back the other way along the other side of the channel. We drift and wait for them over there, let them go by as we view and then fall and in with them for a while. We explore all of the boats in the parade and get some good photo opportunities. Eventually peeling away for some solo exploration. The "Ring of Lights", decorated homes, part of the tour, as we take our time getting back to our docks. 9:00 - 9:15 return
